| Details: This month the focus of Manufacturing Committee will be waste management issues, opportunities, and solutions. It should be very interesting and important to everyone in manufacturing. We will have two speakers with tremendous knowledge and experience in the field who will approach the subject from the academic and application perspective. Steve Duckworth, is Vice President of Sales and Environment, Health, and Safety for Waste Management Siam. Mr. Duckworth give a short presentation on the situation of waste management in Thailand. Steve Duckworth (BSc Hons) has over 23 years experience in waste and environmental in management in Europe and Asia and is a Chartered Waste Manager with the UK’s Institute of Wastes Management. Prior to joining WMS, Mr. Duckworth undertook project management roles in environmental engineering, environmental and social impact assessment, environmental compliance and due-diligence auditing, contaminated land assessment, ISO14001 and sustainability reporting on projects for governments, Donor Agencies, multinational companies, lenders and investors over a 16 year period in Asia with the international environmental consultancy ERM. Salil Sen will discuss the awareness and potential of Waste Citizenry to convey why Corporate, Policy and Investors should invest in the waste awareness building, how such awareness can lead to proactive "pull" from stakeholders to "waste wealth" products & services, and create a value pressure onto policy makers for the need for more incentives for "Waste Wealth" products & services. Dr. Sen, is an assistant professor in Bangkok and has over 10 years experience in corporate training, technology application, dissemination of innovation, industrial engineering, and project management. He has a certificate from Columbia University, Earth Institute, on core competence developed in Analytics for the Practice of Sustainability in the context of Climate Change. His PhD was focused on recognition for Corporate Societal Responsibility integrated Economic/Ecology Value Added (Environmental Green Due Diligence). |
