Please join us to hear Dr. Somkiat Tangkitvanich provide the latest updates on the new Frequency Act and the 3G auction in Thailand. With a new Minister of ICT and new NTC commissioners, Thailand seems poised to finally take the step to license wireless broadband frequency and reform the industry’s complicated regulatory structure. Dr. Somkiat, who has been working in the House and Senate committees drafting the new Frequency Act, will provide insights on the latest developments.

Dr. Somkiat Tangkitavanich is currently the Vice President and Research Director for Information Economy at Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI). His research coverage includes trade policy, public procurement, telecommunications and broadcasting policies. He has been actively involved in drafting many broadcasting and telecom laws in recent years. Dr. Somkiat has been recognized as the man whose research contributed to the reduction of the Internet access price in Thailand, and as the main architect of the Thai PBS, the first public service TV in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
