ADOPT-A-SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Adopt-a-School program has been very successful thanks to AMCHAM companies and individuals who donate funds to needy schools in Thailand. Donations are used for the construction of playgrounds, libraries, water tanks and water filtration systems, and other needed facilities for which government funds are limited.

The Adopt-a-School program provides a wonderful opportunity for AMCHAM members to improve the image of their companies and the American business community. By making a donation through this program, you can make a difference in the lives of children in rural Thailand and improve the quality of life for a village school.

The response to this program has been most gratifying. To date, more than 200 schools have benefited from this program. For a list of 2009 Adopt-a-School Donations for water tanks, water filtration systems, playgrounds and libraries, click here.

Working with the Office of Basic Education Commission (OBEC), ATCF and the donor select a school and OBEC supervises the construction of the chosen project. On average, projects can be completed within 2-3 months. Once construction has been completed, the donor is invited to the school to participate in a dedication ceremony.
