Chevrolet’s customer-driven vision unites its Thai team each and every day, taking a great care to deliver exceptional cars and positive ownership experiences to our customers in Thailand and around the region. There are a lot of exciting things to share about GM Thailand as the primary manufacturing hub for GM Southeast Asia. Established in 1993, GM Thailand has been contributing to the growth of the country’s automotive industry.
GM made a significant investment of USD 1.4 billion resulting in a manufacturing facility in Rayong, Thailand. Opened on August 3, 2000, GM Thailand’s Rayong facility is GM’s regional hub for vehicle production both for domestic sales and export under Chevrolet and Holden nameplates, celebrating its millionth vehicle built in February 2014.
GM Thailand’s range of vehicles under the Chevrolet nameplate is led by Colorado (pickup truck), Trailblazer (PPV) and Captiva (SUV). All are built at GM Thailand’s Rayong facility. Over the years, GM Thailand has received numerous awards particularly for its environment, energy and safety management. It is the first automotive company in the country to receive the ISO 50001 certification recognizing GM’s commitment to energy efficiency and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in its manufacturing process. GM Thailand is certified ISO 14001 representing GM’s best-in-class environment management process. It is also recognized with the zero waste to landfill achievement for its efficient and responsible process for recycling or reusing of all normal plant wastes. It receives the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3Rs) award and the waste management gold medal from the Department of Industrial Works. In addition, the company is named ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
With an ongoing commitment to give back to the communities in which it does business, GM strives to act with personal and institutional integrity in the workplace, the marketplace and the communities focusing on education, health and human services, environment, energy and safety, and community development. Since 2012, Chevrolet in partnership with One World Play Project aiming to bring power of play to children in disadvantaged communities has donated 1.5 million One World Futbols, nearly indestructible footballs, worldwide including 24,000 One World Futbols in Thailand. The goal is to give 2 million One World Futbols worldwide within year 2018. Most importantly, GM Thailand continues to transform its business, adapting to the changing demands of the evolving regional market and helping GM’s global operations build a better future.
