Jeffrey Nygaard is Senior Vice President, Global Operations & Supply Chain for Seagate Technology. Seagate is the global leader in data storage solutions, developing amazing products that enable people and businesses around the world to create, share and preserve their most critical memories and business data.
He is responsible for Seagate’s worldwide operations and supply chain, with a footprint that spans Asia, Europe and the Americas. Seagate believes in designing and manufacturing the core technologies that differentiate us from the competition. Seagate’s operations are highly-automated, data-connected and analytics-enabled. With an extensive supply chain partner network that brings experience and innovation in their area of expertise, we collectively produce leading products that enable our connected, digital lifestyle. Seagate believes in treating their people, the environment and our community with respect.
Jeff joined Seagate in 1994 and over the last twenty three years has held a variety of managerial and executive positions of increasing scope in Development and Operations across Asia, Europe and the U.S. In 2017, Jeff’s role expanded and he was named the Head of Global Operations & Supply Chain.
Active in the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, Jeff currently serves as the President of the Chamber.
Jeff is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt and holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Minnesota. He also completed an executive education program at Harvard University. He lives in Thailand with his wife and two children.
Brad Middleton assumed the position of Managing Director of Chevron's Asia South Business Unit in January 2014. As Managing Director, Brad is responsible for upstream operations in four countries: Bangladesh, China, Myanmar, and Thailand.
Over a 30-year career with Chevron, Brad has held a number of leadership positions of increasing responsibility and scope across the world. Prior to assuming his current position, he served as the General Manager, Production Operations at Tengiz in Atyrau, Kazakhstan, General Manager of Corporate Strategic Planning and General Manager of Upstream Organizational Capability. Brad has also held a number of operational leadership positions in Thailand, Nigeria, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Brad began his Chevron career in 1986 after receiving a bachelor’s of science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Louisiana State University. He is married with three children.
Neil Hansen is Chairman and Managing Director of Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited and ExxonMobil Limited. Neil has worked for affiliates of Exxon Mobil Corporation in a number of managerial positions during his 16-year career. He was a Finance Manager in Affiliate Finance for Exxon Mobil Corporation in Dallas before his most recent move to Bangkok in July 2014.
Neil joined ExxonMobil after receiving his MBA in Finance from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. He also received an MS in Accounting from the University of St. Thomas and a BA in Marketing from Oklahoma State University. Neil and his wife, Natalie, have 2 children, Emily and Joseph.
David Carden is the Managing Director of Thailand and Indochina District for FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company. Based in Thailand, David has been in his current role since September 1, 2006. His management responsibilities include managing a staff of more than 1,000 employees and overseeing corporate strategy and management in Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Lao, which is a part of FedEx Asia Pacific Division.
David joined FedEx in 1986 as a Station Manager. He has served in various operational and engineering positions in New York, Seattle and Los Angeles in the United States, before being appointed to his first Managing Director Position in Seattle, Washington, in 1995. Prior to accepting his latest assignment, David served as Managing Director in Seattle, Los Angeles, and most recently Seoul, South Korea.
David has been an active member of AMCHAM since 2006, serving on the AMCHAM Board of Governors from 2007 to 2011 and serving as AMCHAM President in 2009. David also serves as a Director on the Board of the AMCHAM Thailand Foundation and is a founding Director of the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement Thailand and currently sits on their Board.
Mark Kaufman is President of Ford ASEAN, and is responsible for managing and growing Ford’s integrated operations across the ASEAN region, as well as the company’s Asia Pacific Emerging Markets (APEM) unit.
Mark previously served as Vice President, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford Southern and Sub-Saharan Africa, where he oversaw the Marketing, Sales and Customer Service functions for the 27 countries that comprise Ford’s Southern Africa and Sub-Saharan region since 2013.
Having joined Ford in 1989, Mark began his career in Product Development before transitioning to Marketing, where he advanced to hold various senior positions within the Marketing and Sales function. These included serving as Head of Marketing for Ford of South America, Marketing Manager at Ford of Europe in Cologne, Germany, and Global Small Vehicle Planning & Marketing Manager in Dearborn, Michigan.
Mark holds a Master's degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan and an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, as well as a MBA from the University of Michigan.
Teera Phutrakul, the founder of JT Financial Planners, has been the leading force in the investment management industry in Thailand for over 25 years. He was Executive Chairman of Finansa Asset Management from 2005 to 2010 and prior to that President & CEO of SCB Asset Management and Managing Director of Thai Capital Management. He is the Chairman of the Audit Committee of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank (Thai) Plc. and is currently the Chairman of the Thai Financial Planners Association, (TFPA).
In 2002 Teera started Money & Wealth, a personal finance magazine that he co-founded with the Stock Exchange of Thailand. In addition to being a published author on personal finance with two books under his belt, he has a weekly column on Personal Finance in the Bangkok Post and Post Today newspapers and other business publications. He is also a frequent guest commentator on investment and financial planning affairs for the Money Channel.
Teera, a Certified Financial Planner, CFP®, holds a Master of Arts Degree in Economics in Finance and Investment from Exeter University, England, UK and a fellow member of the Thai Institute of Directors (IOD) Director Certification Programme (DCP 145/2011). before joining the Board of Governors Teera served as co-chair of AMCHAM’s Business Economics Committee.
Dale Lee co-founded CoffeeWORKS Limited in Bangkok in 1995 and serves as the company’s Managing Director to the present day. Together with co-founder Andrew Stotz, Dale has steered the company through the initial start-up period while surviving the 1997 economic crisis in Thailand and has since overseen the growth and professional development of the business to become one of the leading B2B fresh coffee roasting and commercial espresso equipment importers-distributors operating in Thailand.
Prior to co-founding CoffeeWORKS Limited, Dale worked within the U.S. coffee industry at First Choice Services in Los Angeles, California and before that at 5 O’Clock Coffee Company in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, gaining experience in equipment technical services, warehouse operation supervisory roles, and account sales.
Dale received a certificate of completion in Japanese language studies from Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan, followed by a bachelor’s degree in Japanese Language with a minor in economics from California State University in Los Angeles, California.
Parnsiree is a Managing Director of IBM Thailand. She oversees all facets of the business including Systems and Technology Group, Software Group, Global Technology Services, Global Business Services and the IBM subsidiaries IBM Solution Delivery and IBM Global Financing.
Parnsiree has been very active with the Thai government and many organizations in supporting Thailand to achieve its goals. She is member of the Committee of the National Reform Council on Vision Determination and Future Design where she is contributing to the national strategy and the vision for the future of Thailand. Parnsiree also sits on the council of the Thailand Management Association.
Parnsiree received the “Thailand HR Top 100” award from the Human Resources Institute (HRI), Thammasat University in 2012 and "Women Who Make A Difference" award as a woman who has made a significant and outstanding impact in the field of Corporate Business from Thailand Tatler magazine in 2011.
Parnsiree graduated in 1992 with a bachelor degree in Business Administration from Chulalongkorn University. She earned a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA, Los Angeles in 1996.
James has been CEO of Minor Retail Group as a subsidiary of Minor International, the global conglomerate company, since 2015. With his visionary and distinctive leadership style, he is expanding businesses under Minor Retail Group with double digits growth of revenue and profit and overseeing more than 1,500 employees.
Prior to joining Minor, James acquired solid experience with leading multibillion U.S. based companies such as Johnson and Johnson, Coca Cola and Procter and Gamble as Management Committee Team, Deputy President and top management positions for more than 25 years with exposures in many countries in Asia. His remarkable achievements in these leading companies were profitable growth of business expansions, merger and acquisition and business turnaround.
In addition, James was a lecturer in Advertising for undergraduate course at Assumption University and he is passionate about giving back to society via a variety of contributions.
He graduated with a Master’s degrees in economics from Maxwell School, Syracuse University.
Herman is General Manager of Conrad Bangkok. He brings to the table more than 35 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry. In his former role as General Manager for Hilton Osaka, he oversaw a multi-million dollar master plan project and has been involved in seven openings and major renovations.
Herman hails from The Netherlands, a graduate from the International Hotel School Lausanne, Switzerland and further educated at IMD and London School of Business. He joined Hilton International in 1981 where he has been General Manager since 1997. His assignments included The Netherlands, France, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Cameroon, Taiwan, People’s Republic of China, Australia, Guam and Japan prior to arriving in the Kingdom of Thailand. Herman is quadric-lingual, married and has two adult children. He calls the U.S. home as his spouse and children are proud U.S. citizens.
Herman has previously held a variety of roles in community organizations, such as the American Chamber of Commerce Japan, American Red Cross – Guam (Chairman) and Rotary eClub One (President 2009-2010). He believes that the solution to many world issues resides in education and has guest lectured at Kwansei (Gakuin) University Osaka, Aichi Shukutoko University Nagoya, University of Guam and James Cook University Cairns. Herman’s motto is well-known among his friends and colleagues: “challenge the status quo.”
Wail A. Farghaly was appointed Managing Director of GM Thailand and Chevrolet Sales Thailand, effective July 1, 2016. He is based in Bangkok and is responsible for GM’s operations across Thailand.
Wail started his career with the automaker at General Motors Egypt in 1999, where he was the Brand Product and Marketing Research Manager. He was subsequently promoted to hold a number of important posts including Marketing & Product Planning Manager for Africa RMO, Sales Manager for North Africa and subsequently, Sales Director for Africa RMO.
In November 2010, Wail was appointed Director of North Africa RMO region at GM Overseas Corporation (GMOC). He was also a Franchisee Board Member at GM Africa Franchisee Board between 2002 and 2010.
In 2015, Wail assumed the position of Managing Director with GM Vietnam, a position he held until his appointment with GM Thailand.
During his career with GM, Wail was the recipient of a few awards including GM Corporation Chairman's Honors Award for two consecutive years in 2005 and 2006.
Wail holds a BA in Business Administration from Ain Shams University, two postgraduate diplomas in business, and is currently finalizing an MBA degree from the German University in Cairo.
Vira-Anong Chiranakhorn Phutrakul
Vira-anong Chiranakhorn Phutrakul was appointed to the position of Consumer Business Manager, Global Consumer Group, Citi Thailand in November, 2015. She is the first Thai staff member to be promoted to lead the Consumer Banking in Thailand.
Prior to her appointment, Vira-anong was Managing Director, Country Retail Banking and Branch Distribution Head of Citibank Thailand. In this role, she was responsible for wealth management and retail banking products, as well as all Citi branches in Thailand. Prior to this, she was the Consumer Lending Head and Chairman of the Board for Citicorp Leasing (Thailand) Ltd. In that role, she was responsible for revolving and personal loan products and Citi Network branch distribution.
Up until 2010, Vira-anong was Global Transaction Services Head and Local Commercial Bank Head in charge of the branch’s transactional banking products covering Cash Management, Trade Products, and Securities Services for financial institutions and corporate clients, as well as middle market and small-medium sized client portfolios.
Vira-anong joined Citibank in Thailand in 1994 and first worked in the Corporate Finance department. She moved to Securities Services in 1995 as Head of Account Management and was subsequently appointed Securities Country Manager for Thailand. In 2000 she relocated to Hong Kong as Regional Clearing Product Manager – Asia, and in 2001 she took on the role of Securities Country Manager for Hong Kong and China. In November 2002 she returned to Thailand and assumed the role of Global Transaction Services Head.
Ornkanya (Mook) Pibuldham was appointed Managing Director and Chief Country Officer at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch in June 2013. She is based in Bangkok and covers operation of Bank of America N.A and Merrill Lynch Securities in Thailand. Mook is currently Chairperson of the Executive Board of NIST Foundation of International Education and Executive Board of Thai Energy Foundation.
With over 20 years experience in the banking industry, Mook has gained comprehensive understanding of Thailand and international banking businesses. She also possesses in-depth knowledge of wholesale banking products and risk management of all aspects. She has established long term relationships with major SET 100 companies and financial institutions. Prior to joining BofAML, Mook was the Managing Director and Head of Global Markets/Corporate Finance at Deutsche Bank AG, Bangkok from 2000 – 2013 and Head of Financial Institutional Sales at Standard Chartered Bank, Bangkok from 1996 – 2000.
Mook holds a Master's of Arts in Finance and Investments with distinction from University of Exeter and Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Chulalongkorn University.
Steve Rich has been General Manager of the Worldwide Underground Hard Rock Mining business for Caterpillar Inc. since April 2015. This includes end-to-end responsibilities for the business, including engineering, product development, as well as manufacturing operations in Australia and Thailand.
Prior to his current move, Steve served as General Manager of China Underground Mining, based out of Beijing China, responsible for business from product development, engineering, and multiple manufacturing locations and joint ventures. Steve joined Caterpillar in 2000, and has served in various leadership roles in the company for the past decade, including Product Director for Asia Pacific, and Regional Human Resources Director for China, India & ASEAN.
Steve has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University) and Guanghua School of Management (Peking University). He has a Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois State University.
David Lyman joined Tilleke & Gibbins in 1967 after a career in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service, became a senior partner in 1984, and is currently the Chairman & Chief Values Officer. He is a graduate of Duke University (BSEE, 1958) and Hastings College of the Law (JD, 1965).
David's experience encompasses many areas of the law including commercial, corporate, investment, and intellectual property. He has written many articles and spoken on various topics including foreign direct investment, environment and sustainable development, corruption, money laundering and corporate governance. His latest published work is "Lyman's Laws for Lawyers (and Everybody Else, Too!)."
He has not only distinguished himself in the law practice but has also become one of Thailand's best-known American residents through his activities and services to the Thai government and to the Thai and foreign business and social communities. He was a founder and executive board member of Lex Mundi in 1989 and an 18-year member and a Program Fellow of the World Economic Forum; is a member of the Anti-Corruption Commission of the ICC Paris, founder board member of the Thailand Chapter of the ICC, and a member of the Environment Law Commission of the World Conservation Union (IUCN). Since 2003 until 2013 he has been on the Advisory Board of the International Crisis Group, Brussels. In 2016, David was awarded Certificate of Appreciation by AMCHAM for 60 years of service given by him and Tilleke & Gibbins to AMCHAM.
Harold Vickery, Jr.
Harold Vickery is Chair of the Board of Governors of Prem Tinsulanonda International School in Chiang Mai. In 2016 he retired from Bangkok law firm of Vickery & Worachai Ltd., which he founded in 1975. He received his BA from Trinity College and JD from the University of Pennsylvania. On active duty with the U.S. Air Force between 1967-1972, as Foreign Claims Commissioner for Thailand (1968-1970) and Military Judge on the Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan Circuit (1970-1972), in 1989 he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Harold served nine terms on AMCHAM's Board of Governors and has held the following Chamber positions: Chairman of the Tax and Legislation Committee from 1978-1980, Vice-President in 1981, 1983, 1989, 1990 and 1991, Secretary in 1982, 1986, 1987 and 1992, Treasurer in 2001 and 2002, and President in 1984. Since 2014 Harold has been an Advisor to the Chamber’s Board of Governors. He has attended 26 meetings of the Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers (APCAC) and several Washington Doorknocks, and in 1990 received the Chamber's Distinguished Service Award.
Judy Benn has been the Executive Director of AMCHAM since 2001. She had sixteen years in the private sector prior to joining the Chamber and has resided in Asia for twenty five years, the last fifteen years in Thailand. She is also the Vice-President of the AMCHAM Thailand Foundation which she helped found in 2004 and a member of the Board of the Thailand-U.S. Education Foundation (Fulbright).
